1833 Z1-TD.A may be the most popular contemporary counterfeit Seated half dollar variety, and probably one of the Top 10 most notable varieties across all series. The hand-made die obverse with its intentional or blundered '1833' with arrows date, indicative of an 1853-dated piece, is iconic. the reverse copies a genuine reverse die. All examples were struck on a brass planchet. Most examples seen, of the 10-20 examples seen overall, exhibit at least moderate wear, whereas higher-grade examples are much rarer.
