This is Harvey Maranville's third and last counterfeit U.S. coin detector with a patent date of April 30, 1878.

This is a rocker style detector with a small bottom stand missing. This piece is in very rough shape but can be a starter display piece for about half the cost of a nicer example. Overall, a very creatively designed and fairly unique counterfeit coin detector from the late-19th century.
