More interesting exonumia with altered date Walking Liberty half dollars. This group includes the following:
- '1915' transfer die struck counterfeit. Originally altered from a 1935. This is listed as TD.1-TD.A in my next book. The raised dots of metal, at least on the reverse, are indicative of this transfer die struck counterfeit which is rarely encountered. XRF confirms this as a sterling silver planchet, and a higher silver content than the genuine coin-silver alloys of the 2 altered date examples, below. I also have a second, individual example of this variety listed in the SHOP 'Counterfeit WLH' section.
- '1916' altered date from a 1946. This variety boasts the more interested and bold double die reverse (DDR).
- '1917' altered date from a 1946. Fairly good alteration of the 4 to a 1.
