The 1916-S TD.1-TD.A Buffalo nickel counterfeit was struck on a German silver planchet. It is most easily recognized by the obverse die crack at 9 o'clock. From the handful of examples seen, the die details are not better than VG/F. This is a scarce variety, but the 'most common' amongst the 10 documented counterfeit transfer die Buffalo nickels published in the first Bad Metal book.
The example shown has a typical look for the variety. This variety has sold quickly in the past, and is much more affordable than the later Henning nickels.
