Here is a second unusual group - a complete date-run, if you will, of 8, 1811 to 1818 altered date Braided hair Large Cents. I can only speculate that these date alterations occurred in the 19th century, possibly as a result of the scarcity and/or greater expense of the earlier-dated (and unaltered) large cents for which these now mimic. In this group, the 1814 is the rarest altered date I've encountered (amongst those dated 1810 and after), while the fantasy dated 1815 is the most popular amongst numismatists. The 1811, 1817, and 1818 were photographed in their 2x2 cardboard-cellophane holders, and thus have some glare. Overall, this is just a uniquely different type of collection of Large Cents which can compliment some of the earlier-dated altered date Large Cents also available, such as key dates 1799 and 1804.
