XRF Analysis Terms and Conditions (subject to change)
AFTER CHECKOUT
- Customers will receive an excel document (or link) to download and fill-in the pieces they plan to send.
- Fill out the excel document with enough unique information to identify each piece separately. Customers can change the header categories as necessary. Not all info needs to be filled-in. Customers may email me a separate excel document with the same type of information. Customers may also request specific places on the item/coin where they would like a scan to occur (i.e., a silver plated counterfeit with the underlying planchet metal exposed, and the customer wants the XRF to try to identify the underlying planchet metal/alloy)
- Email the completed excel sheet to BadMetalCoin@Gmail.com
- Arrange coins, medals, tokens, jewelry, or other item in the order of the excel list.
- Preparing your submittal. In your package, please include a separate payment to cover return costs, and please identify preferred return method, any insurance, or other add-ons.
- Return Mailing Cost. PREFERRED. Please provide a return postage label with your order. ALTERNATIVE. Include either payment for estimated return mailing cost in package, or please send payment separately via PayPal (if available) to: stoneman101@gmail.com. Alternatively,
- Mail pieces to the address identified in the Excel document (from #1, above). Customers are responsible for securely packing, mailing and insuring their orders.
UPON DELIVERY
- I will email you that your package has been delivered/received, confirm that what was mailed matches the list of pieces that were emailed to me, and secure them in a safe.
- XRF analysis and results will usually begin and be completed within 7 days. I will email you if I anticipate a delay.
- When the XRF analysis is complete, I will email you the results. Customers can have a 7 day grace period to follow-up with me if any of the results are unanticipated, and the customer may request another analysis of a specific piece on a case by case basis.
AFTER WORK IS COMPLETED
- Your XRF-analyzed items will be returned in a manner consistent with your requested return method, from part 5, above. Returned packages will minimally use reinforced tape (not the clear tape). Typically, coins will be mailed back to you on a Monday or Tuesday. A tracking number will be emailed to you in advance.
Record Keeping
- All XRF analysis results will be saved. Should you lose a copy of your XRF results, please contact me and I can email those back to you.
Additional Information and Disclaimer
- The XRF machine is regularly calibrated to ensure accuracy. It is programmed for general and precious metals. This includes most of the transition metals from Titanium to Gold on the periodic table.
- The values provided by the XRF for each element typically have a 1% standard deviation (at 95% confidence) (i.e., if you the XRF reads 10% copper, the actual copper range may be from 9.9 to 10.1% copper).
- I have programmed certain elemental results, including metals/alloys such as copper, brasses, bronzes, German silver, copper-nickel alloys, a range of silver and gold alloys, and tin alloys. However, some results may return 'other' whereby the XRF reading does not fit a documented or standard alloy result. Formula improvements will be made over time.
- The XRF machine provides the results. I do not interpret the results unless requested from the customer.
- Items with environmental issues, damage, and alteration (i.e., acid solution) may result in less than normal, less accurate, or anticipated results.
- Plated items, including the nature and method of plating, may result in unusual and unanticipated results.
- XRF analyses are not perfect and they do not guarantee authenticity. They are merely a tool and method of assessing metallurgical content at or just below the surface.
- Your results may vary.
