This variety is part of the Ski Nose family of counterfeit CBHs. This example was struck on a pewter (e.g., tin based) planchet alloy, and is the only documented die struck counterfeit CBH struck on such an alloy; this variety was also struck on German silver and copper planchets. This example shows excellent surfaces without tin pest which is seen on a fair proportion of these pewter-planchet alloyed examples. Thus, an example without these surface issues is rare.
