This example of 1858 C-1 quarter eagle counterfeit is terrifically attractive with excellent details and even coloring. There is a curved indent in the field in front of Liberty's face which may have been a test to check for authenticity, but that's just a guess. Overall details are EF. Some of the original gold/gilt is still present in the recesses. This is a top-quality, quite attractive example of this scarce variety with less than 10 examples documented.
