This is 1 of 3 documented hand-made, die struck countefeit quarter eagle varieties dated 1861.  This variety is diagnotic with its missing inner look of 6, somewhat small stars, and a faint slash in 1/2.  This counterfeiter also made 1861 variety 'C3' but no family nickname has yet been created.

This example shows a fair amount of wear compared to higher-grade examples.  Less than 10% of the gold plating remains.  But there are no problems, such as scratches, making this piece relatively attractive compared to many other counterfeit U.S. gold quarter eagles encountered.
