This variety is associated with the Stooge family presumably made around Brooklyn, NY by or about 1870.  The example shown has the X counterstamp created by the NY Subtreasury.  While this variety has several examples of this counterstamp, this is by far the most worn example among the entire population.  I would guess this was kept as a pocket-piece and that is how it wore down so much.  Nevertheless, an intriguing example with a counterstamp that is becomming increasingly difficult to acquire as collectors are actively pursuing these for their added story context.
